Why we chose to create this video: Parades are quintessential in small towns. And in Beaver County, they're an opportunity to chat with your neighbors — both friends and strangers — and share in the wholesomeness of the holiday over a warm cup of hot chocolate, a half-broken candy cane, and the wonder of little kids who are eagerly waiting for Santa to drive past next.

Why we chose to highlight this artwork: Christopher Padgett, community filmmaker with RiverWise, owner of Human City Creative, and Aliquippa resident, created this artwork in response to the Little Quips being kicked out of the Beaver County Youth Football League.

In his social media post Chris wrote, "In storytelling work, I'm constantly reminded of the broad brush, or oppressive narratives, and treatment placed on our neighbors, our towns, and our county. How can we listen and love each other better? Instead of creating distance, how can we get closer, face issues together, and treat each other well?"

Why we chose to highlight this story: Shell's ethane cracker plant in Potter Township continues to affect residents throughout the county. This article by The Guardian examines the impact the plant has had on public health, the environment, the economy, and how the public perceives corporations like Shell.

A live nativity, sponsored by Tiger Pause, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 8 PM at 1520 Third Ave. in New Brighton.

According to the Little Beaver Historical Society's Facebook page, this is a 1965 photo of a Christmas tree made from metal shavings and plastic cups at the B&W mill. Check out the full post here. Follow the society's Facebook page here.
